About Us
Our Story
We were undergraduate students at Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont, United States who were part of a travel course that traveled to Zanzibar, Tanzania during the Winter Break of 2017. During our stay, we were able to visit two primary schools on the island of Pemba - where the ages of the students ranged from elementary to middle school.
When asked about their favorite subjects, the students responded with “Information and Communication Technology (ICT).” Currently, these students learn about computers only by reading textbooks and looking at pictures, as these schools do not have the funds to buy laptops to practice basic computer skills.
Having access to hands-on learning experiences with technology–both inside and outside of the classroom – is instrumental to a student's success in mastering these topics. Even though we were on the other side of the world, at all of the schools we visited, we encountered so many enthusiastic, passionate young people who shared our dreams–dreams of successful careers in IT and related fields. We were excited, we were humbled, and we knew we wanted to help.
With a fiery spirit, we went back to Champlain College and got to work.
Our Mission
To provide access to technology for all in order to further education and empower females.
Furthering Education
Students need hands-on learning to truly grasp the lens of technology. Each laptop will have basic applications such as office suites and other educational applications such as English and Mathematics.
Technology For All
In this day and age, technology is an important aspect to learn and understand. We support free and open software because it provides this opportunity to every person, no matter their income.
Female Empowerment
As women in technology, we know the importance of female empowerment in both society and education. Not only are we empowering the young girls of these schools, we also make it a point to empower the women of the schools as well.
